Ilha Grande

I've never been so happy to see my suitcase as I was on last Monday. Everything made it safely and the suitcase was whole. My dislike for Paris airport is growing, it's a mess to find the gate and most times your luggage will get stuck there. The main part is that I got my luggage!

But now we are back from the island. Ilha Grande was the name of it. Absolutely beautiful! One of the most beautiful places I've ever been at. And our hotel, or pousada as they call it here was very pretty as well. We went on a few boat trips around the island. I got to dive with some amaging fishes and to see some of the most beautiful beaches I've seen. Other than the boat trips we did a couple of hikes to a few beaches. The hardest one was the one we did on Saturday when we walked for almost 3 hours!(that was one way, so all together some 6 hours) I was so sore that night and getting out of bed on Sunday was hard. But it was worth it, one of the most amazing views I've seen and there was just a couple of people with us. Almost like a private beach! Loved it.

We're just in the city for a few days and tomorrow we head of the family summer house for Easter. And looks like we have bunch of plans there so I'm not sure if I'll have time to update or not.

My tan is coming on nicely even if I did get sunburned a couple of times. But luckily I'll have some time still left to work on that ;)

Sun, sea and sand

Finally in a country with some heat and sun! The weather has been amaging these first two days. Sun is shining and it's 30 some degrees outside. The only bad part is that I didn't get my luggage when arriving here in Rio, but I should get it later today. It's coming with a later flight from Paris. Not to happy about that part, even though they gave me a paper where it says I can use 100€ to buy all necessary things but it's not the same as having your own things. So that has been a bit of a bummer for the trip but as I said I should get it today. Which is a good thing because tomorrow we are traveling to a island and so I need my stuff there. We are going to stay there until the end of this week. I think there's wifi at the hotel we are staying at.

Here's some pictures I took this morning when I went out on a walk with my dad. Amazing view! We went out around 9 am and it was already 25 degrees. Getting used to this heat will take some time but it's better than the slushy snow we have at home.

I'm so late with this post, but better late than never right? But now I have finally some time to tell an update on my trip to London.

London was amazing as always! We had such luck with the weather as well, nice warm sunny weather which doesn't happen very often there. Overall the trip was a success, both sightseeing vice and shopping. I'm so broke at the moment, oopsie! Primark got the best of me. If you're going to London that is a must store to visit. I would almost say it's sight to see along with Big Ben and Piccadilly Circus. Our hotel was on a great location, near Paddington Station where you could take a train straight from the airport to. And then we had two underground stations near as well, plus all the great restaurants near by.

On our first day there we found a really cute Irish pub near Oxford street where we went to eat lunch. It's so cozy and the food was great. I had said before the trip that I would at least once eat Fish & Chips and that's what I had there , so so good!

I have an app on my phone that counts the amount of steps I take each day, and with those it also calculates how many kilometres I've walked. And counted together I walked about 45 kilometres in 3 days! Who said shopping isn't a sport ? ;)

One of the many reason why I love London as a city is that everything is close to each other and the underground system is so easy to use and fast. My friend asked me while we were there that could I see myself living in London and honestly I could.

We also visited some new places, or places I haven't been to before. One of them was Buckingham Palace. Such a pretty area and filled with tourists. Felt so weird to stand in the same spot you have seen on TV so many times when they have had all their parades or weddings.

Another new place for me was Hyde Park. Definitely a must in London, don't know why I haven't been there before. We went to see the memorial fountain for Princess Diana. So pretty with all the water running in different formations.
Another stop was the Kensington Palace, a beautiful area as well. We didn't go and walk inside the palace, but walking around was enough for me. Overall the park must be gorgeous during spring and summer when everything is green and blooming.

So thankful for these signs on the road. Since the Brits drive on the wrong side of the road, we had no clue which way to look for cars. But reading these I knew which way, saved us from getting run over.

Ended up being a pretty long post, but there's more pictures than words so I let the pictures speak for them self. This week has been back to reality, work, but not for long. Just got my suitcase unpacked and now switched to a bigger one and back to packing again. Leaving for Brazil tomorrow ! Very excited about that !

London Time

Finally the day is here ! London here we come! Writing this post in the car on my way to the airport , had such a busy morning that I didn't have time to update. Typical me I started to packing this morning, so no time for update!

I'll see how the wifi is in London if I can update during the trip, if not you'll get an update on Monday! But now I'm almost at the airport so!

Bon Voyage !

I soon have tea, ginger, vitamins and all other flu killing factors coming out of my ears. I've been feeling like i'm getting down with something. Definitely not something I would like to happen just a few days before heading to London. So I've been drinking tea like crazy, trying to take it easy and just relax. For most part that has worked out but not on Friday! Went out to bowl with some of my friends ( I know, again) and then afterwards we ended up chilling at a friends house and watching a movie. Didn't get home until 4:30 am! Oh well, so worth it!

A picture I took last year when traveling to Vienna

On Sunday I did get some things done thou, things that i only needed a laptop and my credit card! Haha! I bought our ( me and my friends ) luggage for London. Just feels like a rip off that you have to pay for the suitcase but it's just their way to make money I guess. And I also bought tickets for Madame Tussaud's since its way cheaper to buy them ahead than from the actual location. Just a tip for all future travelers that are going to London.

But it feels like I won the battle against the flu this time, feeling a lot better. Now a just have a few things to do before my London trip. And since it's the first day of March today that also means that a new temptation to be without, and this month that is fast food. But now I have things do to and places to go! Have a good Tuesday!
